New High Heat Temp-Tec Gloves from Mapa

Insulated neoprene gloves are constructed of non-toxic synthetic neoprene rubber and an integral cotton jersey thermal liner. The Temp-Tec gloves withstand brief* contact with hot metals up to 480 degrees F and cold contact to -100 degrees F** in hand area.

Positive non-slip roughed grip and a two-tone wear indicator to permit glove change-out before abrasion penetrates the shell. Temp-Tec reduces the risk of burns and frost injuries with better ambient temperature recovery than any other insulated glove. In compliance with 21 CFR, 170-199.  Available in 14” and 17” lengths.

*Neoprene begins to char when heated above 480 degrees F but will not support combustion. **Cold test was performed holding 9 lbs. of dry ice for 2 minutes.

Hydrogen Leak Detection in Battery Rooms with H2Scan's HyAlerta 600

Networking and wireless equipment often contain back rechargeable batteries. With over $1.5 billion spent on networking gear in the U.S. wireless industry alone, environmental and power protection for telecommunications infrastructure equipment has become a huge concern. One of the most critical areas in meeting these service needs is through the protection and support of mission-critical telecommunications equipment, including cellular/PCS tower sites, access points, fiber nodes, fixed wireless radio sites, rooftops, utility poles and a multitude of other broadband site locations. Rechargeable batteries are used in these telecommunications applications, and also in many industrial applications, with batteries for industrial forklifts being one of the most common.

Batteries can be explosive hazards as the charging of lead acid batteries can produces combustible gas. When batteries are being recharged, they generate hydrogen gas that is explosive in certain concentrations in air (the flammability or explosive limits are 4.1% to 72% hydrogen in air). Spark-retarding vents on the batteries help slow the rate of release of hydrogen, but the escaping hydrogen may form an explosive atmosphere around the battery if ventilation is poor. The ventilation system should be designed to provide an adequate amount of fresh air for the number of batteries being charged. This is essential to prevent an explosion.

H2scan’s HY-ALERTA™ 600 Fixed Area Hydrogen Monitor provides hydrogen-specific leak detection and measurement for hydrogen concentrations as low as 4000 ppm and can be scaled to any concentration up to 5% hydrogen by volume, a range representing 10% to 125% of hydrogen’s lower flammability limit.

The monitor is designed for either ceiling or wall mount and has an RS422 capability that extends the interface from the sensor to a controller to several hundred feet. H2scan's hydrogen-specific sensor technology has no cross sensitivity to other combustible gases, thus eliminating false positive alarms and ensuring safety system reliability.

H2scan's hydrogen-specific sensing systems are based on a patented "Chip on a Flex" technology able to detect and measure hydrogen without false readings or frequent calibration. This core sensor technology utilizes the unique interaction of hydrogen with palladium, and a proprietary coating enables continuous operation in harsh contaminant environments.

As the weather cools off and winter approaches, heating cable can become a very important tool in manufacturing and production as well as in building maintenance. Leak Detector for natural gas and other combustible gases

Built around high-quality micro-sensor technology, the Gas Tracer is RKI’s smallest personal 5 sensor monitor with a built in sample pump. It can analyze both a ppm and % levels and has many applications in the natural gas market. The Gas Tracer is excellent for gas line purge testing and detection of small gas leaks. Weighing only 12.3 ounces, it has many features which set the Gas Tracer apart

  • It can monitor the standard gas safety hazards for gas/pipeline operations, (LEL combustibles, Oxygen content, and Carbon Monoxide)
  • It has a high-sensitivity ppm CH4 leak tracker mode which reads down to 10 ppm.
  • It can measure 100% volume Methane and dynamically display either % LEL, or % volume with its auto-ranging ability.
  • It is excellent for gas line purge testing and detection of small gas leaks.

The Gas Tracer’s large LCD display shows all gas readings, battery level, current time, and will automatically backlight in alarm conditions. Other standard mode alarm types include vibration, visual, and audible alarms that can be set to latching or non-latching.

Controlled by a microprocessor, the Gas Tracer continuously checks itself for sensor connections, low battery, circuit trouble, low flow, and calibration errors. The Gas Tracer can interchangeably operate on either a Li-Ion battery pack or an alkaline battery pack. The batteries are simple to replace requiring no tools to access the removable battery compartment or pack. Calibration and bump test intervals and reminders are user adjustable and can be set to either go into alarm or to lock the user out of normal measurement mode once a calibration period has expired. Calibrations can be performed automatically or individually in single calibration mode.

Safety Inc can provide on-going maintenance and calibration for all RKI portable and fixed gas detection products, and also calibration gases (and a recycling program for calibration cylinders).
