Draeger manufactures various types of personal protection equipment and gas detection equipment. Draeger tubes (you may be fimiliar with Gastec tubes) detect and measure many different contaminants in the air that may be dangerous to workers. This air analysis provides workers with reassurance that the air they are breathing is clean and safe, or that the level of safety equipment they are using is appropriate for the level of chemicals in the air. Draeger is headquartered out of Lubeck in Northern Germany. From this location they manage all of the subsidiary companies. Their products are sold and used in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia, Southern Asia, and the Pacific.
The company was founded in 1889 and has been meeting the needs of various industries ever since. They even won an award at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis for an anesthesia machine they developed. By 1915 both the Pittsburgh and New York fire departments were using Draeger breathing apparatuses. The detection tubes emerged onto the market in the 1920s. By the 1950s the company was at the forefront of the medical and rescue technology fields. Draeger had a hand in developing the iron lung, portable incubators, and diving and mine rescue equipment.
