If you choose to implement a safety committee in your company you must first determine what purpose it will serve. It can give employees a venue to discuss issues that concern them, and can educate workers about the use of PPE equipment. This group can also help make sure that the company is in compliance with regulations and integrate safety into the culture of the organization. Management should ensure that each level and department within the company is represented on the committee.

There are many jobs that the group should strive to complete, such as writing a mission statement, setting goals, defining the duties of each member, and meeting regularly. It is the responsibility of the group to develop and implement plans to maintain safety awareness and to keep all company employees informed of their plans and progress.
