In some situations it is necessary to measure the level of certain gases in the immediate environment. Gastec tube detectors, and those made by Draeger and Kitagawa, consist of a glass tube that is marked with a scale and filled with a substance that is particularly sensitive to the gas being detected. This substance will produce a color change to indicate the presence and level of the targeted gas.
Some characteristics of the Gastec tube detectors include:
Detector tubes can be vulnerable to environmental surroundings. The accuracy of the detector tubes can be maintained much longer if they are kept in a cool room or refrigerated storage. Sunlight can also be damaging, so tubes should be kept out of direct sunlight. Because these tubes can contain hazardous materials, they must be disposed of carefully. We urge our customers to check the local disposal regulations for the recommended method of disposal.

The OSHA Act of 1970 maintains that the noise level workers are exposed to must be monitored and kept at a safe level at all times. A noise dosimeter is a datalogging, integrating sound level meter that is used to measure the noise level that a person is exposed to over a period of time. They are used frequently in industrial settings to check compliance with OSHA's noise level requirements.
Safety Inc. sells sound level meters, noise dosimeters, and octave band analyzers. Our newest noise dosimeter, the dbadge, is a full datalogging noise dosimeter in an extremely small, light package – the complete unit weighs a few ounces and can unobtrusively be worn on a person’s shoulder. Since we have been in business since 1970, we know our products well and can assist you with selecting the safety solutions that you need in your place of business.
